What do We "NTF" think of lit???

Many people do think that studying literature it's not important, i used to think of that too.
Can we even use literature in our career next time?
I even think that it is a boring subject and that we can score well without paying much attention in class and reading through the novel before the day when the exam start.
But Ms Tey proved us wrong.
It can definitly be boring if you do not undestand what the author is going to express to you and when you do not have the heart to bother about it.

Literature is a presentation of a language,culture,philosophy .
It
reflects human ideas, beliefs, and societies.

We learn about people's lives, and discover the differences.
We can cultivate wisdom; learn of good and evil;
and experience the call to justice.

When we read literature,we discover the common human nature.
We discover LIFE.

It shows us how cruel reality is, how heartless people can be.
We learned to understand how do the mentally-ill people felt in the "Off Centre" novel and how normal people in the society outcast them , most importantly it is about empathy.
The book "Off Centre" is going to change our point of view towrds the mentally-ill patients in my sentiment.

Through responding, giving comments and reacting to the story,we gain a greater knowledge by reading between the lines.

I'm sure that we are going to have fun literature lessons ahead! :)

EVEN WHEN IT'S UGLY,LITERATURE IS BEAUTIFUL.

Hi to this whole group,

is this post "cheem" or what?! :)

I'm glad to see that some of you all thought (past tense) that Lit useless, because this subject has this amazing way of proving people wrong.

The thing I always tell my students is, "10 years down the road, you probably cannot remember the E Math equation or what formula makes up hydrochloric acid, but you are sure to remember what novel you have read and how much it has impacted your life and your worldview."

I hope this holds true for the entire group. All of you are brave people to take up this subject (whether forced or by choice), and even though Lit will not be full of hehehehahahah all the time, I still hope you guys can get as much out of it as possible.

:)
